Celtic boss Ronny Deila has hailed former Sunderland goalkeeper Ronny Deila.
Celtic boss Ronny Deila has praised summer signing Craig Gordon after his performance against Red Bull Salzburg.
Gordon played a key role in the 2-2 draw, saving eight shots as the SPL side earned an important point.
Deila told the club's website: "Craig Gordon was marvellous. He has been good all season but he is also progressing and getting better. He’s a top professional, a fantastic man and I am so glad to have him.
"I only saw him on TV when he played for Sunderland but our goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods said he was ready and fit. He’s fantastic and we knew that but Woodsy has also trained him well.
"He is a fantastic signing for us. We now have a great goalie but a good coach too."
Gordon, 31, has always been immensely talented, it is just his fitness which has caused concern.
Sunderland signed him for a fee of £9 million seven seasons ago, an amount which was a British record for a goalkeeper. A succession of injuries held him back, and saw him take two years out of the game.
Snapped up as a free agent, he has rebuilt his career at Celtic and even earned a recall into the Scottish international squad, with the rest appearing to do him the world of good.
A performance like last night's and the praise from his manager, will only spur on the most unlikely of comebacks to take on a new energy to reach new levels.
