Arsenal legend Martin Keown has been signing the praises of Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany.
The Belgium international is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world and has steadily improved during his time at the Citizens.
Kompany has been at City since 2008 and has been key in the Manchester-based club’s Premier League (twice), FA Cup and League Cup triumphs.

Many claim the 28-year-old former Anderlecht and Hamburg star to be the best centre-back in the Premier League, and Arsenal great Keown seems to be of the same opinion.
‘Vincent Kompany looks the strongest and seems to get better and better’, the ex-England international told the Daily Mail. ‘But he does gamble occasionally. When it comes off, it makes him look awesome.
‘Watching him closely at the Emirates, his athleticism coupled with his reading of the game is so good. He’s so powerful and takes real responsibility’.
Keown is one of the greatest defenders to have played in the English top flight, and he would know.
Although the former 48-year-old highlights Kompany’s knack of going into rash tackles and getting sent off in previous years, he points out how much he has improved in those areas in recent years.
Kompany is indeed one of the best defenders in the Premier League and, at 28, he is in his prime. Don’t be surprised if once again this season he guides City to the league title.
