A Ross McCormack brace and a goal from Hugo Rodallega had put the visitors into a 3-2 lead, before a late fightback.
Britt Assombalonga's third goal of the fame, Michail Antonio and Jamie Paterson saw Forest win 5-3, and the hat-trick hero posed after the game with the match ball.
Assombalonga was one of a number of the first team stars to take to social networking site Twitter after the match, to pass on his thoughts to the fans, along with Jamie Paterson and Jamaal Lascelles.

Assistant manager Steve Wigley praised Assombalonga after the game, telling Forest's website: "With Britt we knew we were bringing goals but his effort and work rate every day is phenomenal and that will take him right to the very top.
“He’s got no ego, he loves playing football, he loves training and he’s taken to the club straight away."
