Mario Balotelli seems to be a popular figure in the Liverpool dressing room. Having joined the Merseyside outfit from AC Milan for a reported transfer fee of £16 million last month, he has settled well in his new surroundings.
The Italy international has already scored his first goal for the Reds, finding the target against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad in a 2-1 Champions League Group B clash at Anfield on Tuesday.
Everything is going well for Balotelli at Liverpool at the moment – so well, in fact, that he is even bold to publicly make fun of his teammate Raheem Sterling.
Balotelli and the England international winger were apparently playing table tennis on Thursday, and the former won. He then posted the following photo on Instagram with the message: ‘@31sterling !!!!! Loool ops! Mario still the Champion in ping pong!’.
It was all good-natured banter from Balotelli, of course, but it does show the bond he has formed with his teammates and how much he has integrated into the Liverpool team.
Balotelli’s arrival at Liverpool was met with scepticism from many. And understandably so – after all, his time at Inter Milan, Manchester City and Milan was replete with controversial incidents.
However, so far Balotelli has done nothing untoward at Liverpool. And that’s encouraging.
