Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will be fit for his side’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, according to a report.
The 22-year-old picked up an ankle injury during the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund away from home in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Given the history of injuries that the England international has suffered in his career so far, doubts were raised on how long he will be sidelined for.
Wilshere did not train on Wednesday, but the Daily Mail reports that he will recover for the match on Saturday, quoting him as saying that he was ‘fine’.
Even if the youngster does completely recover in time for the match against Villa, manager Arsene Wenger may not start him.
It’s not that Arsenal have a dearth of midfielders, and given how much Wilshere has suffered with injuries, it would be advisable not to take any risk with him.
Nevertheless, the injury is a blow to Wilshere, who seemed to have come into some good form recently.
