Hart starred for City last night despite their defeat to Bayern Munich
After keeping the Bundesliga champions at bay until the closing stages of the game, a Jerome Boateng strike stole all three points for the home side.
City face Roma next in the Champions League - who beat CSKA Moscow 5-1 in the Olympic Stadium, sending out a message that they mean business as well.
Hart said City deserved a point for their efforts in Munich, but it was he who the Premier League champions had to thank for keeping them at bay for most of the game with a string of fine saves.
Some will dispute Hart's comments that City deserved to come away from Germany with a point but given his performance, he was perhaps undeservedly on the losing side.
The performance was certainly a message to Manuel Pellegrini, who may have been considering dropping the goalkeeper like he did last season. Hart was photographed seemingly in tears at the end of the game.
