Sport-BILD reminded their readers that, even without World Champions Benedikt Howades and with 9 injuries, Schalke still earned a point at Chelsea.
Chelsea were held to a score draw at Stamford Bridge by visiting FC Schalke 04 last night, Wednesday.
It could have been a great celebration for the Blues as not only was the occasion marked by the Champions League return of legendary striker Didier Drogba, who made his first start in his second spell at the club, but playmaking midfielder Francesc Fabregas also opened his account for the West Londoners having assisted six times in his four previous four Premier League outings.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar, though, ensured the cheers were short-lived as the Dutchman equalised in the 62nd minute, which allowed the Bundesliga side to return to Germany with a point despite, as Sport-BILD pointed out in their post-match report, being hampered by nine injuries including one to World Cup winner Benedikt Howades.
BILD stated that Schalke conducted themselves "respectably" considering the numerous omissions from their starting line-up and their "flagging" start to the domestic season in Germany.
In the second half, Schalke were "bold and always playing with forward intentions" as they did not fear Chelsea and were inspired by the electric form of Julian Draxler.
