Falcao has revealed that he tried to get Angel Di Maria to join him at Monaco this summer.
The pair became Manchester United's two marquee signings this summer, but it seems that things could have worked out very differently if Di Mara had taken Falcao's advice earlier in the summer.
The Colombian, before knowing of United's interest, had tried to capitalise on the uncertainty over Di Maria's future at Real Madrid by trying to persuade him to join the Ligue 1 side.
"When I was at Monaco I tried to get him to join me there," he said to Fox Sports. "He’s a key player, compliments are short in order to describe him.
Thankfully for Red Devils fans, Di Maria did not heed Falcao's advice on this occasion as the duo are set to become two of Louis Van Gaal's most important stars now.
The South American pair both joined as Van Gaal desperately tried to add quality to a side that had struggled over the opening part of the season.
United failed to win in any of their first four competitive fixtures, but their form looks on the mend following the arrivals of their new summer recruits.
With over £150 million spent on transfers during the transfer window a lot of expected of Van Gaal's men this season and their opening performance with their new look team did not disappoint.
United ran out 4-0 winners over QPR with Di Maria putting in a man-of-the-match performance and Falcao coming off the bench to make his Old Trafford bow.
Things could hardly have worked out better for the side, who will be looking to build upon that display to get back into title contention.
United are desperate to avoid a repeat of last campaign and take on Leicester City at the weekend, where they will aim to gather more momentum for the rest of the season.
