Gervinho may have struggled with poor form and failed to adapt to the Premier League during his two years at Arsenal, but at AS Roma the Ivory Coast international has been a reinvigorated figure.
Often played out wide by Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, at Roma the 27-year-old has been played in his natural position as a forward by his former Lille coach Rudi Garcia. And the results have been evident.
Last season Gervinho scored nine goals and provided 10 assists as Roma finished second in Serie A, and he has carried that form into the Champions League this campaign.
On Wednesday, Gervinho scored twice in Roma’s 5-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in their opening Group E clash against CSKA Moscow at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
The former Arsenal man was on target in the 10th and 31st minutes, helping the Italian giants make a winning return to Europe’s premier club competition.

After his Champions League heroics, Gervinho took to social networking site Twitter to revel in Roma’s triumph.
In the other game in the group, German champions Bayern Munich edged past their English counterparts Manchester City 1-0 at the Allianz Arena.
