Cole celebrates Roma’s Champions League win

Ashley Cole England

Roma defender Ashley Cole tweeted his delight at the Giallorossi's 5-1 triumph over CSKA Moscow last night.

Roma began their Champions League campaign in empathic fashion, demolishing Russia's CSKA Moscow 5-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Veteran talisman Francesco Totti was instrumental and former Arsenal forward Gervinho netted twice in a game that was marred by crowd trouble between the two sets of fans.

Cole, who signed on a free transfer in the summer, had a watching brief as Vasilis Torosidis started, but the former Chelsea man was still delighted by the result.

"Well played boys!! Great to get that result tonight! What a way to start our Champions League journey " he tweeted.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia will have been concerned to see summer signings Davide Astori and Juan Iturbe pick up injuries.

The challenge for the Lupi is to maintain last season's Scudetto push while returning to Europe after a two-year absence.

Roma host Sardinian side Cagliari this weekend and will look to keep up their 100 percent record after wins over Fiorentina and Empoli.
