Tottenham Hotspur may not be involved in the Champions League tonight, but there is one Spurs star who will be keenly following tonight’s action.
That’s Erik Lamela, who has wished his former club AS Roma the best of luck for their clash against CSKA Moscow at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
The Argentina international winger posted the following picture on Instagram along with the message, which when translated from Italian, reads: ‘Good luck for the start of the Champions League to AS Roma, my former teammates and their splendid fans... I will never forget you!!’

Lamela’s affection towards Roma is understandable. The Italian outfit are the 22-year-old’s first club in Europe, having signed the youngster from Argentine giants River Plate in the summer of 2011.
Although the Argentine attacker took time to settle into his new surroundings in Rome, he was a star for the Giallorossi in the 2012-13 campaign, scoring 15 goals in 33 Serie A appearances.
In the summer of 2013, Tottenham snapped up Lamela for a reported transfer fee of £30 million. The youngster, though, suffered with injuries and poor form in his debut season in England, but has shown promising signs so far this term.
