Reality check for LFC and good result if stays like that. 3 teams in the group will surely drop points— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) September 16, 2014
Guillem Balague has suggested that Bulgarian side Ludogorets gave Liverpool a reality check in the Champions League last night.
The Reds ran out 2-1 winners on the night thanks to Mario Balotelli’s first goal for the club and a Steven Gerrard penalty, which allowed the side to match Real Madrid’s winning start in Group B.
Balague, an experienced pundit when it comes to European football, suggests there were too many inconsistencies in Liverpool’s game, which could well have been exploited by a better team.
Anfield was a cauldron of noise as European nights returned but Balague has accused the side of being naïve and playing to the atmosphere rather than concentrating on making the evening more comfortable for themselves on the pitch.
Result, great. Performance, a reality check. LFC 2 direct,2 naive, not enough solidity or link ups.But lots of new faces.Fans, great as per...— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) September 16, 2014
Liverpool now face a trip to FC Basel before they host the reigning European champions at Anfield. The performances should become a lot more rounded but as long as the wins accumulate, Brendan Rodgers won’t be too bothered.
