Aston Villa assistant manager Roy Keane has recently attracted headlines for his impressive beard and, thanks to Twitter user Gareth Roberts, the entire first-team squad have been given the same look.
The badger-like facial hair certainly looks better on veteran Shay Given than on the up-and-coming Jack Grealish, for instance, who, having just turned 19, would no doubt struggle to replicate Keane’s recent effort.
Arriving at the club this summer, the initial reaction to the hard-nosed Irishman’s appointment was one of scepticism, considering previous assistant Ian Culverhouse and head of football operations Gary Karsa were both sacked towards the end of last season due to reported allegations of bullying.
However, the Manchester United legend has so far received nothing but praise from the squad for his contribution to their successful start to the Premier League campaign, with the likes of goalkeeper Brad Guzan hailing him with adding some much-needed bite into the side’s approach.
‘He’s a big name, he’s someone that as a player and coach he has proven himself,’ the US international told the Birmingham Mail.
‘He wants to win, and he brings a winning mentality – whether that’s in small-sided games or whatever, he brings that fiery atmosphere of trying to do whatever we can to get results and see out games and make sure that we walk off the pitch with our heads held high.
‘When that comes from the management down to the players it creates a really good atmosphere.’
‘Then, when everyone comes into training or when we step out on match-day everybody wants to do their best and make sure that they’re helping the guy next to them.’
With Villa taking 10 points from their opening four league games, Paul Lambert’s side will look to continue their fine run of form when they host Arsenal on Saturday, in the latest of a tough run of fixtures.
