Arsene Wenger cut a frustrated figure as Arsenal fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund last night.
The Gunners weren’t able to repeat their victory in the same fixture last season, which ramps up the pressure on the team ahead of their next European game at home against Galatasaray.
Wenger was left staring at the ground and scratching his head in disbelief as a completely different side to the one that fought so well against Manchester City, succumbed to the pressure exerted by Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The boss set the side up with a very aggressive looking attack but Dortmund piled on the pressure and took advantage of extra space down the right hand side, created as Hector Bellerin went further forward and as Mesut Ozil failed to protect him.
Arsenal’s focus now switches back to the Premier League and a difficult match away at Aston Villa who are one of only three undefeated sides in England’s top flight along with Arsenal and league leaders Chelsea.
Hopefully Wenger will have a big smile on his face come full-time this weekend.
