Louis van Gaal
Louis van Gaal has promised that his Spanish-speaking Manchester United players will be made to learn English.
The Dutchman can speak fluent Spanish and is thus able to communicate with the Spaniards and Argentines in his side.
“You know already that all the Spanish players have lessons in English so we have started already more than two weeks,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
“We are only two weeks in this country because we were on the USA and after that we have also international week. But I can speak Spanish so it is better to communicate sometimes on the pitch in Spanish.
“But they shall learn English within one year, I promise.”
Elsewhere, Man United captain Wayne Rooney has expressed his gratitude to former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"He certainly helped me a lot and helped us all," he said. "At the time I was coming into the squad as a young lad and there were a few other young lads. He brought all that together and made us world [club] champions. I’m very grateful for everything he’s done.”
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has also explained why Shinji Kagawa left United to return to Dortmund.
“He was just unlucky – Sir Alex Ferguson wanted everything to be perfect in his final season and there was no place for him in midfield,” he explained.
“With David Moyes you had a manager in his first season, not wanting to take risks – then there’s van Gaal in a similar situation.”
