Leeds United produced a great second half performance to defeat Bournemouth 3-1 away last night.
Leeds United caretaker boss Neil Redfearn will be delighted with the nature of his team’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth last night.
Leeds came from 1-0 down thanks to goals from Soulemayne Doukara, Giuseppe Bellusci and Mirco Antenucci, which allowed the side to gain three points and move up to 13th place in the Championship table.
The side backed up the point they secured away at Birmingham City and will now be extremely confident heading into the derby against Huddersfield Town this weekend.
“I think Bournemouth showed for 30 minutes they are the best footballing team in the league, they murdered us in that period but we took confidence from only going in 1-0 down,” said Redfearn.
“It was an outstanding goal from Giuseppe. I didn't see that coming, when he was lining up I thought it has got to go in or hit row Z otherwise they will break away. It was outstanding.”
The hard work isn’t over for Leeds United because the stats suggest they still have problematic areas to address, which could trip them up unless they are improved over the coming weeks and first half of the season.
Only one team above Leeds in the table has conceded more goals from league games played so far and that's an area which needs to improve for the side to accumulate more points under Redfearn and any new boss coming in.
Redfearn is also ensuring that he will remain an extremely popular figure with Leeds fans following his spell in temporary charge of the team.
Owner Massimo Cellino has already confirmed that he’s going to leave Redfearn in charge of the club’s academy, but it’s encouraging to see that he’s got the side pulling together and has everyone enjoying their football again after a difficult start to the season.
