Charlton boss addresses speculation regarding Aston Villa star

Darren Bent

Charlton Athletic have been linked with a loan move for an Aston Villa player, but is there any truth in the rumours?

Charlton Athletic manager Bob Peeters has been talking about the speculation linking Darren Bent with a return to The Valley.

The Aston Villa striker will find game-time even harder to come by when Christian Benteke returns to the first-team squad, but the Addicks boss moved to dismiss claims he could be on his way back to South London.

In quotes published by Goal.com, Peeters said, “Darren Bent? That is the first I have heard of it. I heard that another striker, Danny Graham, from Sunderland was coming in as well.

“It is good that these players are being linked with us because at the start of the season no one wanted to join us. That must mean we are doing a good job.”

They certainly are. Charlton are currently fifth in the Championship, with just three points less than leaders Norwich City.

But if Peeters' latest comment is taken at face value, it appears the rumours linking the Villa player with a move to his club are nothing more than that.
