Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Jack Wilshere has suffered an ankle injury.
In-form Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has suffered an ankle injury, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
It was the reason for the Englishman's early substitution against Borussia Dortmund, and the manager knows with Wilshere, nothing can be taken for granted.
He told Arsenal.com: "Jack Wilshere has turned his ankle, it's difficult to say how bad it is because I am a bit cautious, normally it's not very bad but because of his history I'm a bit cautious. Apart from that no player I took off was injured."
Wilshere failed to make an impact in the 2-0 loss to Dortmund, but he was not alone, with no Arsenal player emerging with any credit.
Wenger has not ruled out a swift return for Wilshere, and he could even recover to face Aston Villa at the weekend.
On the other hand, recent history has shown small innocuous looking injuries like this one suffered by Arsenal players, can quickly be diagnosed as far more serious issues.
