Arsenal defender has revealed his injury is worse than first thought.
Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has revealed he may need surgery on his ankle, confirming he has broken a ligament.
The fact there is no fracture is good news, but the original projection he would be out for 2-3 months is likely to extend into the New Year.
The Frenchman had impressed after signing from Newcastle in the summer, only to be injured late in the 2-2 draw at Manchester City.
He will discover if he needs surgery on Friday, and his extended absence will place increased pressure on Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers to deputise.
Carl Jenkinson is on loan at West Ham, but it is unclear if Arsenal have a recall option and if so, if they cannot use it until January.
