Alan Hutton has signed a deal to keep him at Aston Villa until 2017, marking a remarkable turnaround this season.
The right-back had seemingly been on his way out of the club over the summer, but he was offered a second chance by manager Paul Lambert over pre-season and it is one that he has grasped with both hands.
The defender has put in some stellar performances in Villa's opening Premier League fixtures and, as a result, has been rewarded with a new deal.
He looked delighted today as he signed a new contract that sees his future secured at Villa Park until he is 32 years old.
Hutton will be looking to maintain his place in the Villa defence for that time, and if he continues to perform the standards he currently is then he is likely to become a mainstay.
The Scotland international has played a key role in Villa's early season success, which has seen them rise to near the top of the table.
Lambert's side are unbeaten so far and picked up a victory at Liverpool at the weekend, making this a dream few days for Hutton.
