It took just 95 seconds for Middlesbrough’s Kike to open the scoring in Tuesday night’s home game against Cardiff City, with the Spanish striker’s close-range effort from an Albert Adomah cross proving the lone goal in a 1-0 win.
Signed from Real Murcia in July for around £2.7 million, the front man has already established himself as a fan favourite after netting twice over the opening six league games, and his third goal of the season served to further endear him to the Boro supporters.

Having scored a commendable 48 times in 150 appearances in the Spanish second-tier, with 23 last season, manager Aitor Karanka looks to have purchased a real gem in his compatriot, and the former under-20 international might just prove the crucial ingredient in the club’s push for promotion going forward.
He’ll no doubt have help from fellow summer signings Jelle Vossen and Patrick Bamford, who both arrived in Teesside on season-long loan deals from KRC Genk and Chelsea, respectively, but fans appear particularly excited about Kike’s potential impact this season judging by the reaction to the result.

Best player in the championship, from what I've seen so far, is certainly this Kike lad at Boro. What a talent.— Dale (@Dale_Harris14) September 16, 2014
