Fulham forward Matt Smith has publicly apologised to the club’s fans for his nightmare debut on Saturday.
Smith started the game, but he could not even last 20 minutes as he was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge.
The former Leeds United star went in late and high on Reading midfielder Hope Akpan in the 18th minute and was dismissed straight away (click here to read more).
Felix Magath’s side were 1-0 down at that stage and conceded two goals in the remainder of the match to suffer a 3-0 defeat.
Smith has now taken to social networking site Twitter to admit his mistake against Reading and apologise to his teammates and the fans.
