Ipswich have made the ultimate inconsistent start the season with two wins, two draws and two defeats so far - including a loss against East Anglia rivals Norwich City. Mick McCarthy's men strengthened this summer with the additions of Jonathan Parr, Cameron Stewart, Balint Bajner, Kevin Bru, Darren Ambrose, Connor Sammon and Bartosz Bialkowski have signed up; but have so far been unable to drive Ipswich towards the top six at this early stage of the season.
Manager Mick McCarthy has gone with his usual 4-4-2 setup tonight, with star striker David McGoldrick continuing in attack after his proposed deadline day move to Leicester City collapsed, whilst youth team product Teddy Bishop starts in midfield as Ipswich look to make it two wins in four days after beating Millwall on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Brighton have also endured an up-and-down start to the season, winning two games, drawing one and losing three as former Liverpool centre back Sami Hyypia takes some time to adjust to English football after a stint with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
The big news in team selection comes with the demotion of Liverpool playmaker Joao Teixeira. The Portuguese youngster enjoyed a superb start to his loan spell at the Amex Stadium, but was substituted against Brentford this weekend and has now been dropped from the starting XI in favour of striker Craig Mackail-Smith.
