Arsenal warned of Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa ahead of Champions League clash

Shinji Kagawa training with Manchester United - 2012

Borussia Dortmund defender Kevin Grosskreutz hails Shinji Kagawa ahead of their Champions League match against Arsenal on Tuesday.

Borussia Dortmund defender Kevin Grosskreutz has been singing praise of Shinji Kagawa.

The Japan international midfielder returned to the German club from his two-year spell at Manchester United last month.

The 25-year-old was a star for Dortmund for two years from 2010 until 2012, establishing himself as one of the best attacking players in the world.

Kagawa was snapped up by United in the summer of 2012, but after two modest years in the Premier League he is back at Dortmund.

And the Dortmund players are happy to have the former Cerezo Osaka star back. Kagawa has been getting praise from his teammates since his return to Signal Iduna Park, and the latest to laud him is Kevin Grosskreutz.

‘He is technically superior to others and sometimes he can take on two or three players on his own’, he told Ruhrnachrichten.de. ‘It is great fun playing with him’.

Grosskreutz’s praise of Kagawa should not be brushed off as someone bigging up his teammate: the 26-year-old right-back himself is one of the best players in the Bundesliga and was part of Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning 23-man squad.

Which is why Arsenal must not make the mistake of taking the threat of Kagawa lightly when they face Dortmund in the Champions League Group D at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday.

Kagawa has already settled back into life in the Bundesliga with ease, scoring a goal and providing an assist in Dortmund’s 3-1 victory over Freiburg on Saturday (click here to read more).

The former United player will again start in attacking midfield for Dortmund on Tuesday and will be determined to show his qualities against Premier League giants Arsenal.
