Arsenal will begin their 2014-15 Champions League campaign against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park tonight.
It is the Gunners’ opening Group D clash, and one that they will hope to win in order to enhance their chances of progressing to the round of 16.
The Champions League is the biggest and most prestigious club competition in the world, and midfielder Aaron Ramsey is relishing the chance to play in it once again.
Hoping for a repeat of last year's result, can't wait for it tonight #championsleague— Aaron Ramsey (@aaronramsey) September 16, 2014
Arsenal and Dortmund were drawn against each other in the group stage of the Champions League last season as well.
Dortmund won the group, while Arsenal finished runners-up but only just. Both the clubs and Italian outfit Napoli finished on 12 points from six matches, and they were separated by head-to-head goal difference – it was that close.
Arsenal will hope that it is not that tight this time around and will be determined to kick off their campaign with victory in Dortmund tonight.
Last season Arsene Wenger’s side lost at home to the Bundesliga giants in the group stage, but picked up all three points away.
Ramsey was the scorer of the winning goal at Signal Iduna Park on that occasion, and the Wales international seems keen on repeating that feat tonight.
