Jamie Redknapp was highly critical of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere earlier this month, prompting the England midfielder to brand his comments 'reckless'.
After the 22-year-old's impressive display against Manchester City, in which he scored Arsenal's opening goal, Redknapp has given the youngster his due.
Writing in his Mail Online column, he said: "It was great to see Jack Wilshere back to his best against City.
"I was more than happy, too, for Jack to have a pop back at me after I criticised him recently.
"I did it as a player so know what it’s like. But I’m paid to give my opinions and he’s paid to ram them down my throat. That’s just what he did against City. Long may it continue."
Wilshere outshone teammate Aaron Ramsey against City, with it usually the opposite way around over the past year.
He created two goalscoring chances, and completed 10 successful dribbles, just one less than the entire City starting XI.
His rejuvenation is great news for club and country, and it's almost as though he has been spurred on by the criticism Redknapp dealt out his way.
