While many expected Romelu Lukaku to be plundering the goals for Everton this season, the summer signing was upstaged in the first month of the campaign, with Steven Naismith netting three goals in three games.
In fact the Belgian international had to wait until a month into the campaign before he netted his first goal as a permanent member of the Toffees’ playing staff.
Naismith has been outstanding thus far, and his efforts in those first few matches have been rewarded after the forward was crowned Everton’s Player of the Month for August.
The 28-year-old has collected his award at the club’s latest Player of the Month lunch and he will no doubt be hoping to continue his fine form for the rest of the season.
Lukaku was back on the score-sheet against West Bromwich Albion, but there is no reason why the two men cannot form a devastating partnership from here on, as Roberto Martinez seeks to better his outstanding debut campaign at Goodison Park.
