Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie rumoured

Obi Wan Kenobi Star Wars

Obi-Wan could be getting added to the list of Star Wars characters getting their own films.

It’s already known that Disney/Lucasfilm are planning a series of Star Wars spin-off movies, expected to focus on the origin stories of individual Star Wars characters. Two of the films have already got directors lined up with Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank named to be on board.

Previously rumoured to be getting their own Star Wars films are Han Solo and Boba Fett and now Making Star Wars is floating the theory that Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi could be joining the list. According to a trusted source: “For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.”

Of course this is just a rumour for now so should be taken with the usual pinch of salt, but given Obi-Wan's prominent position in both the original and the prequel trilogies, a dedicated spin-off film seems to make sense.

The first Star Wars spin-off movie is due to land in December 2016. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
