Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini on Champions League, Hart under pressure

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says he’s confident Manchester City can beat the very best teams in Europe.

City start their challenge to win the Champions League this week.

“The group is similar as last year, Bayern Munich are strong but I think this team has the personality to try to win everywhere,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

Pellegrini also says he’s not waiting for Joe Hart to make an error to change his goalkeeper.

Willy Caballero is putting pressure on the Chilean for a chance to challenge Hart for the number one role at the Etihad.

“I'm not waiting for Joe Hart to make a mistake to change him for Willy Caballero. Maybe in the last year Joe didn't start very well but he finished very well. But Willy is a very good goalkeeper,” said the boss.

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany says his team are full of confidence heading into the start of the Champions League.

City have an extremely difficult start as they take on German giants Bayern Munich this Wednesday.

“We're confident. This is the first game of the Champions League, an away game against one of the hardest teams to play against in the world right now,” he told reporters.
