John Carew predicts where Aston Villa will finish this season

Trinity Road Stand - Aston Villa

A former Aston Villa striker is excited at the start his former club have made in the current Premier League season.

Aston Villa's strong start to their domestic campaign has given a striking alumnus reason to be optimistic over where the Midlands outfit can finish this season.

Aston Villa beat Stoke City away, drew with Newcastle United at home, defeated Hull City at Villa Park and recently slayed Liverpool at Anfield to see them sitting pretty in second place in the Premier League table with ten points from a possible 12 after four matches.

Considering where the club are currently in the division, together with the manner in which they are playing, towering forward John Carew, 35, believes there is no reason why "on fire" Aston Villa cannot secure Champions League football next season.

Chelsea are currently on top of the table, while other clubs with top four aspirations include Manchester City (5th with seven points), Arsenal (7th with six points) and Liverpool (8th with six points) all trail Villa.

Whether the club can maintain this momentum throughout a 38-game league season remains to be seen…
