BTCC racer charged with drink driving

Glynn Geddie

BTCC racer Glynn Geddie has been charged with a drink driving and will miss the final two races of the season after being suspended by his team.

24-year-old Geddie was reportedly caught driving over the limit on 19 August in his home city of Aberdeen. He has denied the charge and will appear in court next year.

Until then he has been suspended by his team, United Autosports. Former British GT champion Geddie currently sits 20th in the BTCC standings and will replaced by and as yet unconfirmed driver.

Earlier this year, former BTCC driver Frank Wrathall was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to death by careless driving following a fatal collision with a cyclist in May 2012.
