United fans react on Twitter to Herrera's performance against QPR

Old Trafford 3

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera returned for the club against Queens Park Rangers, but what did the fans make of his showing?

The majority of the expectation surrounding Manchester United’s Premier League game against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday may have related to a home debut for Angel di Maria and a first chance for Radamel Falcao, but another recent arrival shone for Louis van Gaal’s side in their 4-0 win.

Ander Herrera may have had the spotlight moved away from him somewhat following United’s late transfer business, but the summer arrival from Athletic Bilbao was fantastic against QPR.

The Spaniard scored one and set up another, but his all-round play was also extremely impressive, as he looked every inch the central midfielder United have long been crying out for.

With Daley Blind operating in a deeper position, Herrera was able to push forward regularly, passing the ball effectively and getting on the score-sheet himself, adding to strikes from Di Maria, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

With United enjoying 69% possession, Herrera took full advantage and he could prove to be every bit as important as his more illustrious new teammates.

After van Gaal’s first competitive win since taking over at Old Trafford, we took to Twitter to see what fans made of Herrera’s performance, and you can read a selection of what we found below:
