Tottenham Hotspur headed up north to Sunderland for their first Premier League match of the month on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were looking to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at White Hart Lane just before the two-week international break.

Meanwhile, hosts Sunderland were hoping to return to winning ways from a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

The game at the Stadium of Light between the Black Cats and Spurs ended in a 2-2 draw, and was one of the most entertaining and dramatic matches in England on Saturday.

Visiting Tottenham surged ahead as early as the second minute through Nacer Chadli, but Adam Johnson hit back for Sunderland just moments later.

Christian Eriksen put Spurs back in the lead just three minutes into the second half, but with eight minutes of normal time remaining Harry Kane scored an own goal.

Tottenham were arguably the better side over the 90 minutes, but Sunderland fans will be pleased to have picked up a point against a team challenging for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
