Chelsea continued their quest for the 2014-15 Premier League title with victory over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues headed into the encounter with three wins from three matches in the league, and so did Garry Monk’s visiting Welsh side.
Swansea took a rather surprise lead as early as the 11th minute when John Terry inadvertently found his own net. However, that only spurred on Chelsea, who had a certain Diego Costa on fire despite his recent injury problems.
The Spain international striker, who joined the London club from Atletico Madrid in the summer, equalised on the stroke of half time. Costa was on target again 11 minutes after the restart and completed his hat-trick midway through the second half.
Second-half substitute and another summer signing, Loic Remy, scored on his debut for Chelsea on 81 minutes.
Although Jonjo Shelvey scored Swansea’s second goal of the match four minutes from full time, it proved to be nothing more than a mere consolation as Chelsea won the contest 4-2.
