Derby County player George Thorne has sent a message on Twitter as his side gears up for their match against Nottingham Forest.

Derby County midfielder George Thorne has sent a message to his Rams teammates as they prepare for a tantalising Championship match against Nottingham Forest.

The two sides face-off at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon, with Derby hoping to halt Forest’s impressive surge to the top of the table.

Thorne was expected to be one of the Championship's standout stars this season after completing a permanent move to Derby back in July, but shortly after he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury.

As a result, the former West Bromwich Albion man will have to watch the game as a Derby fan rather than a player, but in the build-up to the encounter the 21-year-old has revealed how much he wishes he could be out there this weekend.

‘Would love to play today…come on lads!!!’ Thorne tweeted shortly before kick-off.

Only time will tell if he will be celebrating come the final whistle, but either way, it is sure to be a fantastic encounter.
