Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will demand a record-breaking £500,000-a-week to re-join Manchester United next summer, reports claim.
The Portuguese superstar has dominated headlines recently after reportedly being unhappy at the sale of Angel di Maria to United.
Despite Ronaldo coming out in support of Madrid president Florentino Perez and his decisions over the summer, the rumour-mill went into full overdrive after the 29-year-old once again professed his love for the Red Devils.
Following Los Merengues’ 2-1 Madrid derby defeat at home to Atletico Madrid, boos and jeers could be heard from the Santiago Bernabeu. As a result, yet more speculation over Ronaldo’s future has arisen as the Daily Mail claims that he is seeking an exit and will demand a staggering deal to return to the Premier League with either United or Chelsea.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will demand a ground-breaking £500,000-a-week to join either Chelsea or Manchester United next summer,” states the report.
Whilst such a deal seems rather far-fetched from the club’s point of view, the reported wages offered to star player Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao are signs that United’s owners are prepared to loosen the purse strings, as quoted in the report.
“United's American owners the Glazers have been prepared to loosen the purse strings to such an extent has encouraged Ronaldo to consider a return back to the Barclays Premier League," added the report.
Since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu from United in 2009, Ronaldo has gone on to score a remarkable 256 goals in 252 games.
His latest goal from the spot during the Madrid derby enabled the forward to enter the history books as he became only the second ever Real Madrid player to score in 12 consecutive La Liga home matches.
