Arsenal drew 2-2 today with Manchester City at The Emirates in what was an exciting affair which at the end of the day ended with a fair result.
The Gunners were 1-0 down to a Sergio Aguero finish in the first half, but goals from Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez had them in the lead.
However a goal from Martin Demichelis saw the spoils shared at The Emirates.
While all of this was going on there was also a debut for Arsenal's deadline day signing Danny Welbeck. The club snapped up the England international from rivals Manchester United in a £16 million deal. And after he bagged a brae for England on international duty fans were obviously excited to see how he would get on in an Arsenal shirt.
He certainly had an eventful game, leading the line by himself, and he very nearly got a goal on debut.
He capitalised on a City mistake to race clean through on goal, but his delicate chip evaded Joe Hart, but not the post.
He came off late in the game suffering with cramp but one player who was impressed with his performance was Wilshere.
Speaking to the club website Wilshere made it clear he was impressed by Welbeck's first Arsenal appearance:
"He was fantastic. Unfortunately in the first half his little chip didn’t go in but he was fantastic, and he showed great work rate. He was closing the centre backs down, he was chasing back and he was quality on the ball as well so I am sure there is more to come from him."
Welbeck will now be looking forward to playing Champions League football this week against Borussia Dortmund. Where he will hope to get his name on the score-sheet.
