It may take some getting used to, but Frank Lampard is – for now at least – a Manchester City player, and the former England international made his debut for the Blues against Arsenal in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.
The Chelsea legend will turn out for New York City FC from March onwards, but in the meantime the 36-year-old has a few months of Premier League football left in him yet.
Lampard will play for City until January, at which time he will begin his preparations for the MLS season.
And while he is not as young as he once was, the midfielder’s top flight experience is such that it was a no-brainer for City to sign him on a temporary basis.
Lampard will be hoping to play a big part in his new club’s campaign, potentially assisting them into the knock-out stages of the Champions League as well as getting a few more league appearances under his belt before he waves goodbye to English football completely.
