Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has named the two most skilful players he has played with.
‘Philippe Coutinho or Oussama Assaidi’ was the England international’s reply to Sky Sports when asked who his most skilful teammate is.
Philippe Coutinho’s name is not a surprise. After all, the Brazil international is one of the best young players in the Premier League and has developed brilliantly since his move to Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013.
The 22-year-old struggled to adapt to the changing situations and tactics at Italian giants Inter, but under Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, the former Vasco da Gama youngster has turned on the style.
Coutinho won the Liverpool Young Player of the Year award in the 2012-13 season and was adjudged as the club’s best player for the months of March and April 2013.
Sterling picking Assaidi as one of the most skilful players he has played with could come as a surprise to many Liverpool fans, mainly because of his failure to make an impact at Anfield so far.
The Morocco international winger joined the Merseyside outfit from Heerenveen in the summer of 2012, but failed to play regularly for the first team in his debut season in England, making just four appearances in the Premier League.
Last summer 26-year-old Assaidi joined Stoke City on loan and did a good job in the 2013-14 campaign despite injuries, and has returned to the Britannia Stadium on a similar temporary deal this season.
