Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane put through his own net to gift Sunderland a goal and ultimately a point on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs had taken the lead through Nacer Chadli after just two minutes, but a quick-fire response from Adam Johnson meant the score was all-square going into the break.
Three minutes after the interval Christian Eriksen put Tottenham back in front, and that was how the game stayed until Jordi Gomez crossed and Kane diverted the ball past his goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
The result means neither side got back to winning ways after losing to Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool respectively prior to the international break. However, Gus Poyet will be the much happier of the two managers considering the Black Cats were just eight minutes away from defeat.
