The former Tottenham Hotspur striker was not impressed by Newcastle United's performance at Southampton.
Alan Pardew's men lost to the Saints by the same scoreline last season but failed to heed any lessons from that day as Ronald Koeman's side ran riot on Saturday afternoon.
Fans have since taken to Twitter to pile the pressure on Pardew, with many expecting the 53-year-old to be sacked soon.
And Lineker, without commenting on Pardew's situation, feels Newcastle were 'embarassing' as they trudged to their second defeat of the season. The former Spurs man did not mince his words.
Newcastle have been bloody awful. Embarrassing, in fact!— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 13, 2014
The Magpies are yet to find a win so far this term, having managed just two draws and two defeats.
But Pardew's men had yet to capitulate to such a degree until their trip to the South coast. Newcastle fans had previously expressed their dismay at the 53-year-old's reign at St James' Park and it remains to be seen whether it will last beyond this weekend.
Hull City travel to Tyneside next week, where a similarly 'embarrassing' performance will not be welcomed by a dedicated home crowd.
