Arsenal's World Cup winning star 'super excited' by upcoming fixtures

Arsenal's Lukas Podolski has explained his excitement about the upcoming fixtures the Gunners face in the next few weeks.

Lukas Podolski has spoken of the 'super exciting' weeks coming up for Arsenal.

The Gunners are in action in the Premier League, Champions League and the League Cup in the near future and Podolski is clearly relishing the challenge of competing in three competitions.

The German attacker was linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium for much of the summer, but it appears that he is now fully focused on the task in hand and he took to Instagram to show how much he is anticipating the next few fixtures for the club.

He posted on the social media site saying: "Super-exiting weeks coming up!! Triple action with Premier League, Champions League and the League Cup! Preparing for the first challenge: Man City!"

The game against Manchester City will be Arsene Wenger's side's toughest test so far this campaign, but if they can win it they will make a real statement of intent to the rest of the division.

The Gunners are thought to be in a better position to challenge for the title this year than they have been in a number of seasons and winning the fixture tomorrow would be proof of that assertion.

City are the defending champions in the Premier League, but they travel to London shaken from the defeat handed to them by Stoke City in their last fixture before the international break.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have remained unbeaten through their first three league games, but there is still an expectation that more is to come from Wenger's men.

They have drawn with Leicester City and Everton, with their solitary win coming against Crystal Palace on the opening day.

A victory over City would represent a healthy return of eight points from their first four fixtures, though, and then they will be hoping to build on the momentum that that could create.

After the game against Manuel Pellegrini's side this weekend, Arsenal take on Borussia Dortmund in the Championship League and follow that up with games against Aston Villa in the Premier League and Southampton in the Capital One Cup.
