Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Mesut Ozil performance v City

Ozil Arsenal 5

Arsenal fans were not impressed with a lacklustre performance from Mesut Ozil against Manchester City.

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Premier League champions Manchester City this evening - with promising performances from several of their players.

Alexis Sanchez again looked superb. He scored their second goal with a delightful volleyed finish from inside the box. He was also a livewire throughout the game, giving City all sorts of problems throughout the tie.

Jack Wilshere was their man of the match. He scored the opener and put in a tremendous performance for the club as they ended up unlucky to not come away with all three points.

But once again it was not a positive performance from their club record signing Mesut Ozil. Arsenal fans have been concerned over the £42.4 million pound man's performances for the past few months. And despite being a regular for Germany in their World Cup winning campaign of the summer he has not found his form yet for The Gunners.

Today was no different. He looked uncomfortable once again on the wings and was sloppy in possession. He slowed up play on several occasions - much to the annoyance of Aaron Ramsey, Wilshere and Sanchez.

But it is not just his sloppiness going forward but his inability, or indeed refusal to track back and defend.

He came into the game carrying an injury, but so did Ramsey, and comparing the two's work-rate would have been unfair on the German - even if the Welshman did not have his best game either.

He appears lacklustre and occasionally disinterested - which of course is not true - but the fans are beginning to get frustrated with his continued poor performances.

Arsenal fans will be hoping this particular poor performance was the result of a hangover after his injury problem, but it is fair to say that right now, Arsenal are not getting their money's worth.

Here is some of the reaction on Twitter to yet another worrying display from Ozil...
