Italy registered wins over Holland and Norway without Mario Balotelli and it is believed that new Italy boss Antonio Conte doesn't have much patience for the Liverpool marksman.
The paper believes that although Balotelli has become a figurehead for Italy's summer World Cup flop, Conte is ready to give him a chance.
In Super Mario's absence, Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza and Borussia Dortmund's Ciro Immobile formed an impressive partnership, winning plaudits for the number of chances they created.
Conte, who won three consecutive titles with Juventus, is said to be determined to build a mentally solid side and may only give Balotelli one chance to fit in with the squad.
The former Bianconeri man is expected to demand commitment and hard work from Balotelli at every training session and won't indulge him.
If Balotelli doesn't fall in line then he faces the prospect of international exile even if he manages to find the net for Liverpool.
