It was quite a complicated off-season for Saphir Taider, switching from Inter Milan to Southampton on loan and then terminating that deal, and heading to Sassuolo.
Whether the midfielder did not impress the Saints hierarchy, or simply wanted out, has been open to conjecture but he has claimed he simply had a change of heart.
Speaking to Sassuolo's television channel upon officially being unveiled this Friday, reported by TMW, he said:
"I was at Inter then I went to England where I was happy, then for personal reasons I have decided to return to Italy."
The Algerian international added: "I had several offers, but I chose the Sassuolo and I hope to have a great season. It's a new adventure me."
