Derby County announced great news yesterday; striker Chris Martin has extended his contract with the club.
The 25-year-old looked delighted as he put pen to paper on a new deal, which takes him through to the end of the 2018 season.
Martin was a crucial figure in Derby’s season last year, as his 25 goals played a large part in helping the side into the play-off final where they were unlucky to miss out on promotion back into the Premier League.
He’s already opened his goalscoring account this season with two goals against Fulham and one against Ipswich Town, to go with an effort against Carlisle United in the League Cup.
Derby have made a decent start to the Championship this season with two wins, two draws and a single defeat in the league so far. Fingers crossed Martin can help the side improve on the nine goals they have scored already.
