Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho reveals what Mario Balotelli told him on US tour

Balotelli Milan

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho reflects on facing Mario Balotelli in the USA in the summer when the striker was still an AC Milan player.

Mario Balotelli is known for being a (harmless?) prankster, and it seems that he has been doing his tricks with the Liverpool players even before he joined the Merseyside outfit.

The Italy international striker was in action for AC Milan against the Premier League club in a pre-season friendly match in the USA back in August.

Balotelli featured in that 2014 International Champions Cup game at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 2, which Liverpool won 2-0, thanks to goals from Joe Allen and Suso.

France international defender Mamadou Sakho also played in that contest (for Liverpool), and he has now revealed the friendly banter he shared with then Milan player Balotelli.

‘We had done some publicity together when I was still at PSG about three years ago, so we knew each other already back then’, the 24-year-old centre-back told Liverpool’s official website.

‘We spoke to each other at the ground [Bank of America Stadium] and the picture of us is very nice - looking at our matching haircuts and everything (see above). He took the mickey out of me saying: So you speak English now?'

Balotelli is well known for his jokes and pranks, and he seems to have settled in well at Liverpool following his £16 million move from Milan last month.

The 24-year-old former Manchester City star has already made his debut for the Reds and will be looking to establish himself as a key figure in the Reds’ quest for Premier League and Champions League success this season.
