Brentford boss talks up Joao Carlos Teixeira's talent

Teixeira had a brief spell on loan at Brentford from Liverpool last season, but is now on loan at Brighton.

Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira has been receiving a lot of praise from Brentford boss Mark Warburton, where the creative midfielder spent part of last season on loan.

Teixeira is currently spending time on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion this season under the guidance of former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia. So far, the promising Portuguese youngster has been impressive during his time on the South coast - and has made six appearances for the club so far this season.

He made two appearances for the Bees, who Brighton face tomorrow, and Warburton rates him highly.

He said of the 21-year-old: "Joao is a very talented boy. It's a year on from when we had him and he's impacting at Championship level.

"He can dominate games and has the ability to unlock defences, which is being proven now.

"He has that randomness about him. He likes to find pockets of space and has everything he needs to get to the highest level.

"Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world with some of the best players, but Joao is very talented. Hopefully after Saturday he can show what he can do."

A product of Sporting Lisbon's academy, Texieira made an impression off the bench in a crucial 3-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League last season for the Reds - as his key through ball led to Daniel Sturridge winning a penalty to give the side all three points.

His chances were going to limited at Anfield this season, but there is evidently a player with talent there. If he impresses enough this season, maybe Brendan Rodgers will be prepared to give him an opportunity again next term.
