Manchester United snapped up Radamel Falcao on Transfer Deadline day to complete a three=pronged attack that would be the envy of any team in world football.
It continues a long tradition of United having supreme strikeforces. Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Carlos Tevez and of course Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham. And one of those names has been speaking about their signings this transfer window.
Dwight Yorke has been speaking to the official Manchester United website about the signing of the two South American newbie's in particular.
And he seems pleased:
"It's wonderful. The club needed some new impetus, a little bit of energy. It's a big disappointment for us with the way the season has started, but to have Angel Di Maria here is a great addition. When you look at some of the no.7s we've had in the past going back to George Best, they are exciting players, players who go past opponents, create opportunities and in Falcao, too, we have one of the best goalscorers in Europe and the world – it's what United needed. Hopefully we capitalise on their talent and get the football club back to where it belongs by winning football matches."
Falcao is indeed a potent finisher in front of goal. Doubts remain over his dodgy knee but he now helps create a monstrous looking front-line for United - that rivals Yorke's combination from the turn of the century.
If Falcao can do what Yorke did at Old Trafford, he will certainly make some fond memories at the club.
