Pete Hines, Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, has made a statement to fans on Twitter regarding what has been a frantic year of questions and rumours surrounding Fallout 4. In reply to those rumours he had this to say;
"You should ignore everything unless it comes from an official source/channel"
Hines also stated that Todd Howard, in an interview for "Rock, Paper, Shotgun" earlier in the year, had already said "It will be a long time before they're ready to talk about their next game."
Fans have been waiting four years for another installment in the Fallout franchise and this absence has given rise to several false rumours regarding a future project. This all came to a head at the end of 2013 with the now infamous Survivor2299 hoax which drew in fans in their thousands with coded messages regarding a storyline based in Boston. This hoax was so well researched that many felt it had to be the announcement they had been waiting for but alas it wasn't to be.
Since then Bethesda have been inundated with angry tweets and messages on Facebook demanding any news on the the series. In fact the Fallout community have even gone so far as to just ask for confirmation that it will be made at some point. This latest announcement still doesn't answer that with Bethesda simply saying "It will be a while".
Pete Hines also went on to say that "If you don't know what to believe, believe the official sources."
So it looks as though the rumours of an announcement this December will also be false and we will have to wait untill 2015 for any kind of announcement, begging the question, Why are Bethesda taking so long to announce the next installment of their landmark game?
